Corbin City, New Jersey

Corbin City is a tiny rural municipality along the Tuckahoe River at Atlantic County's southern edge. Route 50 runs through a landscape of woods, wetlands, homes and a very small collection of local businesses, while nearby Tuckahoe and the Cape May County shore are only a short drive away.

It is New Jersey's least-populous municipality using the traditional City form of government, making its quiet riverfront setting and close-knit character distinctly different from what most people picture when they hear the word “city.”

About Corbin City

Corbin City was incorporated in 1922 from territory that had been part of Weymouth Township. The community grew along transportation routes and the Tuckahoe River, and today remains primarily residential and rural rather than commercially developed.

Route 50 corridor

The state highway is Corbin City's principal north-south road and the location of City Hall, its best-known restaurants and several local businesses.

Tuckahoe River

The river shapes the city's identity and supports boating, fishing and kayaking from the Main Street municipal riverfront area.

Rural character

Large wooded and wetland areas, low-density development and a small local population give Corbin City a distinctly quiet South Jersey setting.

Smallest “city” in New Jersey: Corbin City is the state's least-populous municipality that uses the City form of government. The 2020 U.S. Census counted 471 residents.

GF / DF review: NJTGO did not assign Gluten-Free (GF) or Dairy-Free (DF) badges during the September 2026 review because the current public menu information found for these establishments did not clearly document qualifying options. Diners with celiac disease, food allergies or dairy restrictions should contact the establishment directly about ingredients, substitutions and cross-contact before ordering.

Real Estate & property considerations

Corbin City is a very small real-estate market, so individual transactions can make portal statistics swing dramatically. Property-by-property due diligence is more useful here than a headline median price.

Rural residential property

Homes range from modest roadside and neighborhood properties to larger wooded or acreage parcels.

River & wetland conditions

Buyers should review flood-zone, drainage, wetlands and insurance considerations carefully, especially near the Tuckahoe River and low-lying areas.

Well & septic

Service conditions can vary by parcel. Confirm potable water, septic-system condition, permits and any required inspections for the specific property.

Zoning & Pinelands review

Before additions, new construction, home occupations or commercial use, verify city zoning and any other land-use approvals affecting the parcel.

Before buying: confirm the tax record, permitted use, survey/boundaries, flood and wetlands status, well/septic condition, access, insurance requirements and any planned road or utility work. NJTGO provides community orientation, not brokerage, appraisal, engineering or legal advice.

Visiting & lodging

A quiet stop between inland South Jersey and the shore

Corbin City works best for travelers who enjoy river scenery, rural roads and small local establishments rather than a conventional attraction district.

Overnight stay

No conventional hotel was verified inside Corbin City. A locally listed farmhouse-style short-term vacation rental has operated in the city; availability and booking status should be confirmed before planning a stay.

Nearby destinations

Tuckahoe, Upper Township, Woodbine, Estell Manor, Ocean City and Sea Isle City broaden the area's dining, lodging, outdoor and shore options.

Good local outing: combine a stop for lunch or dinner on Route 50 with the Main Street riverfront area. The scale is small—that is part of Corbin City's appeal.

Jobs & employment resources

Corbin City's in-city employment base is limited to municipal functions, a handful of local businesses and service establishments. Most residents looking for a broader range of work will also search Upper Township, Ocean City, Estell Manor, Mays Landing and the wider Atlantic/Cape May County region.

Local sectors

Food service, automotive repair, personal services, landscaping/nursery-related work, municipal services and small-business employment.

Atlantic County

County government and workforce-development resources provide a much larger pool of current openings and job-search assistance.

New Jersey workforce resources

State job-search, training, apprenticeship, One-Stop Career Center and reemployment resources are available online.

Atlantic County Open Jobs

Current public employment opportunities with Atlantic County government.

County job postings
NJTGO does not invent job openings. Employer-specific positions should be verified with the original employer or official posting before applying.

Corbin City Classifieds & community notices

For a community this small, classifieds work best as a simple local marketplace rather than a large empty category directory.

For Sale / Wanted / Free

Household goods, furniture, tools, electronics, lawn and garden items and other lawful personal property.

Garage & Yard Sales

Date, hours, general location, rain information and major sale categories.

Community Notices

Local activities, volunteer opportunities, neighborhood announcements and public-interest notices.

Lost & Found / Pet Notices

Lost items, found property and non-commercial pet notices using safe contact information.

Protect personal privacy: use a general location in a public classified rather than publishing an exact home address. Exchange detailed meetup information privately once both parties agree on a safe transaction plan.
